Ken Freer has over 35 years of CEO/Senior Director level experience across a wide variety of sectors including pharmaceutical, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), sports administration and corporate advisory including investment banking experience.
Throughout his career, Ken has demonstrated a strong track record of enhancing EBIT performance through revenue growth and cost control, developing strategic direction, and building and leading engaged teams.
Ken’s success lies in his ability to create and execute strategic visions, develop effective customer alliances, and maintain performance during significant organisational changes. He is known for leveraging consumer insights to develop winning brand strategies and for his dedication to coaching and developing staff.
Currently Ken also serves as a director on the Board of Cystic Fibrosis Queensland, and previously on the advisory Board for Transport for Brisbane City (2012 to 2020) part of the Brisbane City Council, Board of Moreton Bay Colleges, Advisory Boards of Limestone Coast Brewing and Spanish Boutique Beverages, and the Board of the Playground & Recreation Association QLD.
Career highlights include:
- Frito-Lay Australia (PepsiCo), I served as Marketing Director for Australia and the Asia Pacific, where I successfully built our brands and assisted our Asia Pacific JV partners with their marketing strategies and adapting global strategies for local markets.
- Marketing Director of Lion Nathan and then Managing Director of Castlemaine Perkins XXXX (Lion Nathan QLD), I regained market share to over 60%, restructured the commercial team, and implemented new selling processes, creating a more capable, agile, and competitive sales team.
- At Queensland Rugby and the Reds, I fostered an aligned and unified culture, increasing sponsorship revenue by 25% to $5.4 million in 2008, and reconnected QRU with the regional rugby affiliates in Queensland, enhancing cooperation and helping grow rugby participation in the state.
